EECS 141 LABORATORY
I. OBJECTIVE

The object of this course is to reinforce the EECS 141 lecture material, to teach the use of basic electronics laboratory instruments, and to develop good habits of experimental note taking and record-keeping. You should purchase a laboratory notebook, preferably one with grid lines, which should be turned in per your TA's instructions. It will be graded and returned to you at the start of the next lab meeting.
The lab book should contain the following information from each experiment:
(1) Schematics of all circuits built and tested.
(2) Records of any data taken, and the circumstances under which it was taken.
(3) Answers to questions in the printed lab hand-out.
(4) The laboratory station number at which the experiment was carried out so that the calibration of equipment used may be checked later if necessary.
The principal requirement is that a record be kept so that the experiment could be reproduced by someone else without use of the lab sheet. Formality of the lab book is not of primary importance; neatness is a requirement only to the extent that the material must be clear and understandable. Most of the lab time should be spent doing the experiment, rather than writing a report.
II. GRADING
Grading will be based on both your lab notebook and on your TA's evaluation of your experimental techniques of the experiments.
III. BASIC LAB GROUND RULES

During the first week of the semester, each group will be assigned a toolboox. Please use only the toolbox assigned to you for all laboratory sessions.
The work area in the lab must be left in the following condition at the end of the lab period:
(1) All test equipment neatly stacked on the shelf above the bench.
(2) All components replaced in their proper boxes or drawers in the storage cabinet. Should any components be damaged or missing, inform the TA so that replacements can be arranged.
(3) Circuit board disassembled and all wires removed.
(4) Wires hung up neatly on the wall in their proper section.
IV. LAB BOOK WRITEUPS

Each student will turn in a separate lab book which was prepared completely by the student himself/herself. You will work in pairs in the laboratory to obtain your data and then individually to prepare your lab book.
