How to Set up SourceSafe

All simulink libraries and simulations will be stored using sourcesafe. To set up sourcesafe, do the following:

  1. Look under Start Menu/Programs/Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0. If you see Microsoft Visual Sourcesafe, skip to step 3.
  2. Install Sourcesafe from Hitz by running s:/Visual Studio 6.0/disk 1/setup.exe. Choose Server Applications and Tools, then add the visual sourcesafe server option and follow instructions to complete sourcesafe installation.
  3. Run Start Menu/Programs/Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0/Microsoft Visual Sorce Safe/Visual Source Safe 6.0 Admin
  4. Run Users/Open Sourcesafe database, browse, and select \\HITZ\Designs\scr\scrdb\srcsafe.ini
  5. Run Users/Add User, and insert a user name and password for yourself.
  6. Exit Visual Source Safe 6.0 Admin
  7. Run Start Menu/Programs/Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0/Microsoft Visual Sorce Safe/Microsoft Visual Source Safe 6.0
  8. Choose File/Open SourceSafe Database, and select scrdb
  9. All libraries will be in scr/receiver/digital
  10. Right click on the desired library (.mdl) file. Choose Get Latest Version (DO NOT CHOOSE "CHECK OUT" unless you first check with the designer of that simulink library).
  11. You will be prompted to choose a directory to store the file. Choose a directory in your home area on HITZ.
