The Graphics Page

(aka The Corinthian Page, The Gaudy Page)

last updated 10/30/96

This page is always under construction. All my ray-tracing efforts have gone to sprucing up these web pages. I'll try to put more up as time goes...

I use the Persistence of Vision Raytracer. I'm still using version 2.0, because I'm too lazy to upgrade to the newest version. I'm sure I'll get around to it someday.

I also use Adobe Photoshop to finish alot of my images. All images on this web site were desiged by me with POVRay and Photoshop (unless otherwise noted), just to give you an idea of the capabilities.

My first image...

I put this together for Jan Borgersen as a birthday present in 1994. See his web page for more info about the Dekana.

Web Graphics

Here are a number of the original traces which went into strategic places on this web site.

Textures

In order to get anywhere with ray-tracing, you have to spend a lot of time experimenting with textures. Two of my experiments which never went anywhere are shown below. The first is just a magma texture which I intended for an apocalyptic scene which I never got around to doing. The second was an attempt to make objects which look like they're ``shining''.

Color Depth Test

This image is something I threw together to check the color depth of my web-browser. If you have anything less than 24 bit color, you should see distinct dithering and/or arcing and straight lines in this image.

Current Projects

Here's the graphic I developed for the EEGSA. The Coffee cup and backdrop were done with POV-Ray While the words were done with Pixar's Typestry. The shadows were added in with Photoshop, along with the lightning bolt graphic.

Here's the graphic for this year's Jazz Choir. The sax man is actually Dan Schlessinger, who has been known to play with CJC from time to time. This image was done entirely in Photoshop 4.0.
