Ultra-Wideband Antenna Design

Stanley Wang, Ph.D. 2004

Instead of transmitting/receiving sine waves, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) is a communication system exchanging data via pulses. A critical design part of it is to find an appropriate antenna suitable of pulse transmission. Since most of the conventional analyses of antenna designs as well as antenna/circuit interfaces assume harmonic time dependent that is no longer the case in UWB, new design methodology has to be developed. We are trying to figure it out from a time-domain perspective and by using FDTD EM simulation tools.
