Analog FrontEnd

Each BEE processing unit (BPU) consists of six major components:

  • Main Processing Board (MPB): 1 per BPU, is the center of all computation.
  • Riser I/O Cards: 8 per BPU, provides high speed I/O connection between the BPU and analog frontend as well as other BPU
  • StrongArm SBC Controller Module: 1 per BPU, provides the connection between the MPB and external server/client through ethernet
  • Modular Power Supplies: 2 separate AC/DC converters per BPU, one 600W provides main power for computation, the other 150W provides always on power for controllers and chassis fans.
  • Power Supply Board: 1 per BPU, converts 5VDC from the main power module to high current lower voltages required on the MPB.
  • Chassis: 1 per BPU, houses all the above components, as well as cooling fans, switches, indicators, power connectors, etc.
