Design
and Implementation Issues for a Wideband, Indoor,
DS-CDMA
System Providing Multimedia Access

This paper considers design and implementation
issues for an indoor wire-less system providing multimedia access to portable
terminals. Power consumption is a key metric in this design, because of
portability constraints. An integrated CMOS receiver implementation is pre-sented
which achieves total power con-sumption of less than 150 mW for a 1 Mbps data
rate. An improved second gen-eration system design is also considered.
