PicoNode3 Subgroup:
Mission
As the third phase of the PicoRadio
project, the PicoNode3 subgroup will identify and analyze the
components of a PicoNode in order to integrate them into a unified
infrastructure that optimizes the global power consumption. The end result
will be a VLSI sensor node that will form an ad-hoc PicoRadio sensor network.
-
Identification - determine the
blocks needed for a low-power sensor node and the required operational modes
-
Analysis - determine the
requirements/characteristics of each block in terms of power, hardware
resources, latency, duty cycle, etc. while possibly reorganizing blocks to
take advantage of common functionality
-
Integration - establish clear
interfaces between blocks, components, and protocol layers and determine
operational modes to permit reactive, event-driven operation in various
system scenarios
-
Implementation - create
testbed prototypes and silicon artifacts demonstrating the feasibility of
the design
This subgroup relies on the algorithms
from the NAMP and PHY subgroups, prototypes on the TESTBED subgroup's hardware,
and design flow knowledge gained by the TCI subgroup.
